I am a pre-law senior at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Corporate Communications with a minor in business. Upon graduation in the spring of 2008, I plan to attend law school in my home state of Texas. Education plays a very important role in my life. I believe that it is one thing that can never be taken away.

Once being crowned Miss Texas Galaxy 2007, my platform of helping instill self-confidence in today’s youth became a priority. As the new Miss Galaxy 2008, I am now able to promote my platform on a much higher level. I believe that it is important to teach children about self-confidence, how they can work to acquire this confidence, and the difference between confidence and arrogance. I believe that one of the key factors in gaining self-confidence is education, and education begins with a strong foundation in reading.

In addition to promoting self-confidence in today’s youth, I am very active in other activities and events throughout my community. I have participated in such activities as blood drives, the MS BP 150, charity fundraisers, benefits supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters and events supporting OCD.

I have been blessed with the most amazing family. My parents, Karen and Leo, have always stood behind me in all of my endeavors and shaped me into the person I am today. My parents are not only some of my best friends, but they are also my heroes. My beautiful sisters, Melanie (15) and Shelby (12), make everyday an adventure. Being the oldest of three girls, it has become a personal goal to be a positive role model for my sisters.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, and biggest fan, Sean. He is a minor league baseball player for the St. Louis Cardinals. We have a beautiful miniature pinscher named Chanel who definitely keeps us busy!

I believe that something as small as a smile has the ability to brighten someone’s day. So no matter how big or small, I definitely believe that my passion is to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
